History of The Birth Nerd
In 2010, I moved to Kansas City. I was pregnant with my first child and at the beginning of my journey into birth work. I founded Journey Birth Services, my first of several companies offering services to pregnant, laboring and postpartum people. Initially, I worked as a labor doula. I quickly noticed a need for quality childbirth education in Kansas City. I added classes to the mix.
As my company grew, it became clear that my add-on services needed a home of their own. I started The Birth Nerd as a response. I’m thrilled with the work I’ve done to enhance my childbirth education skillset. I’ve trained with Birthing From Within, BeboMia, and Evidence Based Birth®. Each organization has provided me with valuable knowledge and skills to help my clients have the birth they desire.
Services I Offer
I’m proud to offer my own custom curriculum, as well as offerings from my various training organizations. My custom curriculum has been designed over the past ten years as my experience has grown. I’ve written these classes from my professional experience, specialized training, education in early childhood development, and experience as a Montessori teacher’s assistant in various infant programs.
I offer pain-coping classes from my education with Birthing From Within as well as the special offerings from Evidence Based Birth®. EBB has workshops for both professionals and parents. These offerings focus on accessing and utilizing evidence-based care in the birthing space. I’m also trained to offer the entire EBB exclusive childbirth education curriculum.
Serving the KC Metro–and Beyond!
The Birth Nerd offers childbirth education in Kansas City and beyond. I offer both in-home, private classes as well as group classes. I utilize a unique hybrid model that does some in-person visits combined with online classes that offer both community and convenience. I understand that KC traffic is no joke!
I teach classes in Leawood, Mission Hills, Parkville, Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, Kansas City, MO and beyond! Traveling outside of our service area requires a small fee but we are more than happy to accommodate.
